Optimised Resources

Sarah Taylor has taken on the role of OSL’s Resourcing Manager, a newly added position that reflects our dedication to improving project operations.

Having previously held the role of Associate Director at NES Global Talent, supplying technical and engineering experts to the gas and oil industry, Sarah has worked with Operations Manager Neil Barnard for several years and had a strong understanding of OSL even before she joined the company.

“Sarah has recruited numerous engineers into OSL over the past few years,” said Neil. ”Not just because she is able to find technically high calibre candidates but because she also understands the Company’s culture and the type of individual that will thrive in our environment.”

“I specialise in process engineering recruitment,” said Sarah. “Now that I’m at OSL, my main focuses are managing contractors both in the office and on-site, and recruiting new team members on a permanent, graduate and ad hoc basis, depending on the specific requirements of the project.”

Sarah’s expertise means that she can find the best person for each job both efficiently and cost-effectively. She achieves this through numerous methods, from graduate recruitment campaigns and reaching out to key universities, to attending careers fairs and capturing potential candidates ahead of the game. She also works closely with Business Development Manager Richard Moralee, ensuring that the company’s philosophy of “attract, train and retain” is both smooth and methodical.

Due to Sarah’s role being wide-ranging, OSL now benefits from simpler communications, the organisation of contractors through a single member of staff, and a more hands-on link between head office and engineers, with Sarah often making site visits to discuss activity, strengthen client relations and create detailed progress reports.

“When I was offered the role at OSL it just seemed right, and I could see that there was real scope for career development.”

Living in Northwich, West Cheshire, Sarah regularly commutes to OSL House in Hull as well as to project sites as required. Having worked in the technical engineering sector since she was 22 and being married to an engineer, you can always depend on her to have a comprehensive understanding of this ever-changing industry. Still, it’s not all work and business, as Sarah always manages to make time for her Chihuahua Freddi and her Latin and ballroom dancing. Regular caravanning holidays are also scheduled into her calendar, with destinations ranging from the Dordogne in France and the Spanish Bay of Roses, to the canal city of Venice, which she admits isn’t the first place that springs to mind when most people think about caravans.

Still in the first month of her new role, Sarah can be contacted on 01482 626400 and welcomes you to connect with her on LinkedIn.
