Fresh from Venezuela and Hull
We’re delighted to welcome two new members of staff to the OSL team, and just in time for the Christmas party.
Daniela de Sousa Parisi was born, raised and educated in Venezuela, studying a five-year Chemical Engineering degree. Following her graduation she worked for a consultancy company for two years, focusing on process modelling and simulation. 2011 saw Daniela travel to her father’s home country of Portugal to take a master’s degree in Industrial Engineering and Management at the Technical University of Lisbon. Having successfully gained her qualifications, the young professional moved to Hull this November to work for OSL as a Process Engineer.
“I didn’t think twice when I was offered the position,” said Daniela. “My husband will soon be joining me in Hull and I already love the city. The fact that it’s becoming the UK City of Culture makes it even better!”
Daniela’s fields of expertise include simulations, gas and oil facilities, mathematical modelling and petrochemical refinement. She speaks fluent Spanish, Portuguese and English, so has settled into the team very quickly indeed despite such a sudden relocation.
Meanwhile, local man Lee George has taken on the role of Quality Coordinator at OSL, having joined us fresh from KC as a Standards and Compliance Auditor. Only a fortnight in, Lee is already working hard on preparing for our annual ISO:9001 certification reaccreditation visit early next year.
“I worked at KC for six years after studying a degree in Psychology at Hull Uni,” said Lee. “The time came for a new challenge; my responsibilities at OSL are extremely motivating, ensuring that all of our work is not only ISO compliant but also looking for ways to improve the way we approach and deliver our projects.
Lee is a family man with a young son. “I play football, rugby and do power workouts at the gym,” he said, “but the little one’s not quite old enough to join me just yet.”
We are very pleased that Daniela and Lee are already enjoying their roles and will keep you updated with their work over the coming months.
