Careers in Energy
Members of OSL have recently visited Nottingham University to be part of their Careers in Energy event, which welcomed a large number of ambitious students. Running a stand and offering company literature to budding engineers in the chemical, mechanical, environmental and electrical disciplines, we also explained more about the gas and oil industry and the types of careers that are available.
“It was an excellent opportunity to engage with students on a one-to-one basis,” said Resourcing Manager Sarah Taylor. “We offered guidance to both undergraduates and postgraduates, meeting more than eighty in total.”
Sarah was joined by Principal Director Alastair Robertson and Associate Process Engineer Abigail Abiola-Cudjoe, who recently progressed from her graduate status.
“Having Abigail with us was very useful indeed,” explained Alastair. “She was able to give students a firsthand account of the process, from a placement with OSL whilst at university, to working under a mentor and taking ownership of project elements.”
The trio were available to answer any questions that arose, be it a curious enquiry about the world of engineering or a strong interest in the precise route to becoming a chartered engineer.
“Working to our philosophy of attract, train and retain, we’re confident that we helped a lot of future engineers to achieve a better grasp of what’s required,” said Sarah. “Hopefully we’ll see some of them again in the near future.”
OSL regularly works with universities and visits campuses for careers fairs, presentations and talks. If you know of an event that you think we might be interested in, please let us know by calling 01482 626400, or email info@oslconsulting.com.
