Durante los \u00faltimos 16 a\u00f1os, el Gobierno de Timor Oriental ha llevado a cabo estudios de ingenier\u00eda para apoyar el desarrollo de una planta de GNL de 5 MTPA y la infraestructura asociada en la costa sur de Timor Oriental. Esta instalaci\u00f3n de GNL est\u00e1 dise\u00f1ada para procesar gas de alimentaci\u00f3n tratado extra\u00eddo de los yacimientos de Greater Sunrise y Troubador, situados a unos 200 km al sur de Timor-Leste, en el Mar de Timor. Un gasoducto de exportaci\u00f3n en aguas ultraprofundas conectar\u00eda las instalaciones de producci\u00f3n en alta mar con la planta de GNL en tierra, recorriendo una distancia aproximada de 250 km.\u200b<\/p>

Los \u00faltimos avances han dado mayor impulso al proyecto, tras la ratificaci\u00f3n de un Tratado de Fronteras Mar\u00edtimas entre Australia y Timor Oriental y la adquisici\u00f3n por el GdTL de una participaci\u00f3n del 57% en el yacimiento de Greater Sunrise. Como parte de esta progresi\u00f3n, el GdTL ha decidido trasladar la planta de licuefacci\u00f3n de GNL a Natarbora, a unos 70 km al oeste de Beaco, en la costa sur.<\/p>
